The opportunity to join The Makro Cadetship Programme presented itself to me while completing my matric in 2008, I decided to apply as I had always had a passion for the Business World, and the deal was sealed because I could also study towards a BCom Degree whilst gaining valuable work experience in the process.
Whilst on the programme the challenges and responsibilities grew with each passing year this resulted in my growth in character, skill and competency. The opportunity I received while on the programme which many young people do not get.
All the hard work dedication and support from the Makro Team has helped me on this journey from being selected onto the programme to being appointed as a Process Controller (Store Auditor) today.

It’s been challenging
I will not forget all the sleepless nights I had all because of studying and wanting to grasp and remember my notes for the exam. I have been fortunate to have been given an opportunity to meet all the people I’ve worked with across the different stores, the management team and staff members as well as the fellow cadets on the Programme, who have all contributed to my success today.
The Makro Team has become like family to me.
I’m now a better person because of the past 4 years….WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!
|Pontso Mashifane – Change Analyst
I matriculated in 2005 and joining the cadetship in 2006 gave me a great head-start for my career. I got the opportunity to be mentored by various managers in the business and learnt so much from them. Rotating in the various departments gave me an in-depth understanding of our versatile and exciting business!
Being appointed as a Change Analyst after completing my degree was a huge blessing for me as it has given me the opportunity to apply my skills at a more strategic level of our business I wouldn’t have it any other way!
